With our lenses, we only prescribe single vision glasses. We do not provide or recommend Multifocal, Bifocal or any prism prescription to be ordered online. The reason for this is that these specific prescription needs certain measurements which could only be done accurately in person. The measurements need to have the frame worn and certain physical tools used to take the measurements within 0.5mm accuracy. Our qualified Optometrists do not recommend doing this online and hence uphold our high standards and morals by providing this sound advice onto the customer.

Reading your prescription:

Your prescription may have some terms which are important to understand. Often it is in a table such as the one below.

OD: Right Eye

OS: Left Eye

Sphere (Sph): Spherical power

Cylinder (Cyl): Cylindrical power or the Astigmatism power

Axis: The angle of the cylindrical power/ Astigmatism

Add: This is the additional power on top of the main prescription which equals the total Reading prescription

PD: click to learn How to Measure Your Pupillary Distance (PD) and download the GlassesOn app for Apple or Android to measure your current glasses at home.

Lens thinning: Depending on our prescription, often it is recommended that you thin down your lenses in your glasses due to various reasons. This is done by using a lens material with a higher index value. By thinning your lenses, the lenses are thinner, lighter and have less distortions on the side vision.

If you add up the sphere and cylindrical power and the sum is large than + or – 2 then index 1.5 is ideal. If the sum is larger than + or – 4 then index 1.6 is ideal. If the sum is larger than + or – 5 then index 1.67 is ideal.

Lens coatings

There are various lens coatings which can be applied on the lenses, each with various features and benefits:

Standard Anti-reflective coating: Blocks UV, reduces glare, scratch resistant, repels water and smudge resistant.

Super Anti-reflective coating: Blocks UV, reduces glare, 2 x scratch resistant, dust repellent, repels water and smudge resistant.

Lens add-on

There are various lens add-ons which can be applied to lenses for various applications and uses.

Tinting: Lenses may be tinted as per sunglasses. There are various colour options, various darkness levels and they may be either a solid tint or graduated tint.

Polarised tinting: Polarised tinting is a sunglass tint which blocks all surface-reflected lights of surfaces. The results are more sun protection, better vision contrast and comfort.

Photochromic: this is a special lens odd-on which allows the lenses to be clear indoor and automatically dark when outside in the sun. Multiple colour options are available and our lenses use the most advanced in photo chromatic technology which switches from light to dark and dark to light as quickly as possible.
